Christopher leaves the house to buy licorice laces and a Milky Bar. In the shop he meets Mrs. Alexander. He starts chatting with her about the murder of Wellington and so they come to another theme. They talk about Christopher’s mother and that she had an affair with Mr. Shears and that this is the reason because of Christopher’s father doesn’t like Mr. Shears. Christopher talks about the dead of his mum, and Mrs. Alexander is very surprised a shocked because she has never heard Christopher’s mother had died.
This scene is a key scene because Christopher gets his first important informations and he starts thinking about the dead of his mom. He begins asking himself what’s really happened.
